UNIUYO VC, PROF. CHRIS EKONG, VISITS OKU IBOM IN CONTINUING CONSULTATION

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Uyo, Professor Christopher N. Ekong, on Saturday, September 12, 2026, paid a courtesy visit to His Eminence Ntennyin Solomon Etuk, OkuIbom Ibibio and President General, Akwa Ibom State Supreme Council of Traditional Rulers, at his palace.

The visit formed part of Professor Ekong’s regular consultations with the revered traditional ruler and was aimed at maintaining the cordial relationship between the University and the traditional institution.

During the visit, the Vice-Chancellor and the OkuIbom Ibibio exchanged views on issues of mutual interest, including education, leadership, community development and the continued growth of the University of Uyo.

Professor Ekong’s regular consultations with His Eminence underscore the importance his administration attaches to the wisdom, experience and counsel of traditional institutions in advancing the development of the University and the wider society.

The OkuIbom Ibibio warmly received the Vice-Chancellor and his entourage at his palace, with the engagement further reinforcing the existing relationship between the University of Uyo and the traditional institution.

The visit is part of the Vice-Chancellor’s broader stakeholder engagement strategy, through which he continues to consult with traditional rulers and other key stakeholders on matters relevant to the progress and stability of the University.
